Working in Horsham
Horsham's centre mixes modern retail with much older buildings around the Carfax and the Causeway. Older properties often have features a fire risk assessment needs to look at closely: timber construction, narrow or single staircases, and layouts that have been altered many times over the years.
We assess the building as it is and recommend measures that are proportionate — we don't overprescribe. You get a full written report with clear recommendations, and an executive summary of what to deal with first.
Away from the centre, we look after offices, workshops and trade units on the town's business parks and in the surrounding villages.

Common questions
Horsham fire safety FAQs
Does a small shop or office in Horsham need a fire risk assessment?
Yes. The Fire Safety Order applies to almost all non-domestic premises, however small. The responsible person must have a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment and review it regularly.
Is an older building assessed differently?
The law is the same, but the assessment is not. Older buildings can have hidden voids, timber structure and limited escape routes, and there may be limits on what can be altered. A fire risk assessment identifies practical measures that work with the building.
